The Seal (or Sælen) lounge chair, designed in 1956 by Ib Kofod-Larsen, is considered one of the most iconic examples of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design. Though designed by a Dane, it was originally produced for the Swedish manufacturer OPE (Olof Perssons Fåtöljindustri). One of Kofod-Larsen’s hallmarks was his ability to make heavy materials look light.
