Responsibly Sustainable
It All Begins Here
The products we source were made to last, designed and manufactured using materials and practices that produced pieces which remain beautiful 70 or 80 years after conception. With care, great adherence to the original designs and use of high quality materials, we restore our furniture so it is ready for another 70 years of life.
We believe that buying existing, vintage furniture has a positive effect on the environment. Research by the International Antiques and Collectors Fairs found that a new (made in China) chest of drawers has a carbon footprint 16 times higher than the vintage equivalent per year.
We are relentlessly researching ways to improve the environmental impact of our business. Most Mid Century furniture would originally have been manufactured using polyurethane foam, as this is flammable it was treated with flame retardants. In every case possible, we choose green upholstery foam alternatives that contain no potentially toxic substances within the foam itself or applied to the foam during the manufacture. Our alternatives include;
Natural latex made from materials harvested from rubber trees, is naturally resistant to mites, moulds and mildew. As the product is natural, it its completely biodegradable.
Horse Hair was used up until the late 20th century to stuff upholstered furniture. We often use a rubberised version of this instead of synthetic foam to give a similar result.
Wool cotton wadding is a high quality wool cotton felt. It is flame retardant and used to replace the synthetic polyester wrap which is often used in upholstery to date.
We are working towards using only sustainable materials in our packaging. We are currently using a mixture of corrugated cardboard, paper and fabric off cuts.
We use Shiply to deliver our furniture, they are a company that utilise the spare capacity of vehicles already running on the road, therefore helping to reduce the number of otherwise wasteful journeys needed to transport an item.
Small Steps Create Big Shifts
It All Begins Here
Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we’re unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you’re capable. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting that you can figure it out along the way.
The key to making things happen isn’t waiting for the perfect moment; it’s starting with what you have, where you are. Big goals can feel overwhelming when viewed all at once, but momentum builds through small, consistent action. Whether you’re working toward a personal milestone or a professional dream, progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently. Action creates clarity, and over time, those steps forward add up to something real.
You don’t need to be fearless to reach your goals, you just need to be willing. Willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to believe that you’re capable of more than you know. The road may not always be smooth, but growth rarely is. What matters most is that you keep going, keep learning, and keep believing in the version of yourself you’re becoming.
